The Giancini Family Gallery

Page One
Eugene Giancini, Paul’s maternal grandfather, is pictured seated on the left. Born in Rome in 1884, he began life as an orphan and was given the surname Giancini by the orphanage. He was later adopted by Luigi and Filomena Sebastionelli, who brought him to their home in Ceccano. There, Eugene would eventually meet his future wife, Settimia D’Annibale—pictured beside him.  Eugene first immigrated to the United States aboard the S.S. Regina Elena, arriving on March 5, 1903. Over the years, he made several trips back to Italy to be with his wife and children. On December 2, 1920, Settimia and their three children—including Beatrice, Paul’s mother—departed for America aboard the S.S. Re D’Italia to reunite with Eugene and begin a new life together in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
