The Giancini/D’Annibale Family Gallery

Page One
Eugene Giancini, Paul’s maternal grandfather, is pictured seated on the right. Born as an orphan in Rome in 1884, he was given the surname Giancini by the orphanage. He was later adopted by Luigi and Filomena Sebastionelli, who brought him to their home in Ceccano. There, Eugene would eventually meet his future wife, Settimia D’Annibale—pictured beside him. Born in 1889, she was the daughter of Fausta Leo and Giovanni D’Annibale. Eugene first immigrated to the United States aboard the S.S. Regina Elena, arriving on March 5, 1903. Over the years, he made several trips back to Italy to be with his wife and children. On December 2, 1920, Settimia and their three children—including Beatrice, Paul’s mother—departed for America aboard the S.S. Re D’Italia to reunite with Eugene and begin a new life together in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
